Cracking the Nut: How the Women’s Press Club of Pittsburgh Broke Boundaries
for Women Journalists and
the Women’s Movement
Welcome! This site will introduce you to my dissertation research and other academic work. The links will take you to a sample of my research on the Women's Press Club of Pittsburgh, my CV, some sample syllabuses, and some great links for information on Women in the Media.
As a researcher, I specialize in writing about women journalists, the women's movement, gendered representations in the media, print history, and the history of American Mass Media. My work relies on qualitative research methodologies, particularly oral histories and archival work. All pictures from the WPCP archive are courtesy of the Thomas and Katherine Detre Library & Archives at the Senator John Heinz History Center, which is located in Pittsburgh, PA.
